A Durable Power of Attorney (POA) is a document which delegates authority over your property and legal rights to an agent, usually a spouse, friend, or family member. This agent can then act on your behalf, particularly if you are disabled or unavailable. This is essential because neither a Last Will nor an Advanced Medial Directive (living will) allow for the management of your property or financial affairs while you are disabled but still alive.
